Formvar® coated grids without a carbon layer are suitable for TEM applications up to 100kV. The films are available on grids made of copper, nickel or gold. Pioloform is sometimes preferred to Formvar® because of its higher mechanical and thermal stability, and lower bulk which can help reduce electron scattering.
