We’re very proud to introduce the latest member of our team! Our brand-new TESCAN VEGA3 SBH scanning electronic microscope is now installed and fully operational at Agar headquarters.

Under the supervision of our full-time, in-house SEM operator, it’s already hard at work performing detailed quality control checks on the range of test specimens and calibration standards we manufacture, as well as the wide variety of other SEM consumables we supply.

Checking calibration standards and more

The primary task for our new SEM is to perform quality control checks on the range of gold-on-carbon and tin-on-carbon test specimens we manufacture, which are used to verify SEM resolution. We check for:

  • Gold and tin particle size and size range
  • Presence of contaminants
  • Scratches and other physical defects.

We also perform spot checks on a wide range of SEM components and consumables, whether we make them ourselves or simply supply them. These include:

  • Filaments
  • Scintillators
  • Finder grids
  • Apertures
  • Support films
