Magnetic Carboxyl Activated Resin is used to make magnetic chromatography media. It forms chemically stable amide linkages with ligands containing primary amine groups. It has a long spacer (9 atoms). After binding of target molecules, the magnetic resin can be readily isolated from the biological feedstocks with the aid of a magnet.
Carboxyl-activated agarose can be used for the immobilization of amine containing molecules. The coupling chemistry is carbodiimide-based and is a successful and well-documented technique.
