Agar Scientific provides diamond knives crafted from high-purity, gem-quality diamonds, offering a sharp and long-lasting edge for sectioning in biological and materials science applications. DiATOME diamond knives are available for a wide range of TEM applications, both at room and low temperatures.
These knives are designed to produce high-quality sections with minimal compression from both hard and soft embedded specimens. Diamond knives have become an indispensable tool for studies in biological and industrial materials.

Investing in DiATOME diamond knives, you can be confident that all models, regardless of age, can be resharpened multiple times. DiATOME’s advanced resharpening process ensures that the knife will retain its original diamond length after each sharpening. Each resharpened knife undergoes the same rigorous optical inspection and sectioning tests as new knives.
DiATOME is the only manufacturer to guarantee that resharpened knives will maintain the same flawless quality as when originally purchased. Every DiATOME diamond knife, whether new or resharpened, is supplied with a certificate detailing the serial number, knife length, type, angle, recommended clearance angle, maximum sectioning speed, checker’s signature, and date.
Labtech, part of the Calibre Scientific portfolio in the UK offers a resharpening service for the Diatome diamond knives.
Diamond Knife Resharpening by Labtech – How It Works:
1. Request a quotation from Labtech for resharpening your DiATOME diamond knife, specifying the type and length of the knife edge. If you are unsure of the length, it can be found on the certificate, typically located in the base of your DiATOME diamond knife storage box.
2. Place a formal purchase order for the resharpening based on the provided quotation.
3. We will send you an order confirmation along with a return’s authorisation number, which should be included with the knife when returning it.
4. Return the knife to us with the return’s authorisation number. For added security, we recommend using a tracked shipping service. We aim to resharpen and return your knife as quickly as possible.
